The Knox Lincoln County Beekeepers is a chapter of the Maine State Beekeeping Association. We were founded in 2003. Our goal is to encourage and support beekeeping as a hobby in the Knox Lincoln County area. Honey bees are vital to the pollination of all of our flowers, fruits and vegetables. In recent years Varroa mites and Tracheal mites have invaded the United States. These mites have killed nearly all wild honey bee hives across the country. The need for managed bee hives has never been greater then it is right now.

Beekeeping is a fun and inexpensive hobby. Plus you get all of that wonderful honey to share with your friends and family. Bees are fascinating creatures with a complex social structure. You will get hours of enjoyment just setting quietly and watching them go about their work.

The best way to get started is to attend a Bee School. KLCB offers Bee School each spring. You will not only learn what is required to manage bees in this environment, you will also meet other community members that share your interest in beekeeping.

Package Bee Pick Up Day
and Demonstration

Dick and Jean Vose hosted this day at their home in Nobleboro. Jean gave a mock installation demonstration of both packages and nucs. Their beehives were very busy and gave folks a good look at overwintered hives activity at this time. They both answered many questions about installation of bees and general management.
